Toronto FC agreed to a transfer with Norwich City to acquire Josh Sargent.

Sources told The Athletic, Sky Sports and the BBC on Friday that the deal is expected to be worth nearly $27 million.

Sargent, 26, totaled eight goals and three assists over 24 appearances this season for the Canaries (11-15-6), who sit in 17th place in the Championship. He found the net 15 times and logged five assists in 33 appearances in 2024-25.

Sargent, a Missouri native, joined the Canaries in 2021. He totaled 56 goals and 15 assists over 155 appearances for the club. He missed the Canaries’ last eight games after being sent to train with their Under-21 squad. Sargent remains under contract through 2028.

He logged 15 goals and six assists over 81 appearances in four seasons with German Bundesliga Werder Bremen from 2018-19 through 2021-22.

Sargent also scored five times over 29 appearances for the United States Men’s National Team. He played in three matches during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but missed the Americans’ finale — a Round of 17 matchup with the Netherlands — due to an ankle injury.

Toronto FC placed 12th in MLS’ Eastern Conference last season. The Reds, who won the domestic treble, with the MLS Cup, Supporters’ Shield and Canadian Championship in 2017, failed to qualify for the MLS Cup playoffs over the last five years.

They will take on FC Dallas in their regular season opener at 8:30 p.m. EST Saturday in Frisco, Texas. The Canaries will host Birmingham at 10 a.m. Saturday in Norwich, England.
