Striker Mohamed Salah was not included on Liverpool’s roster for a Champions League match against Italian Serie A power Inter Milan, the Reds announced Monday.

The Reds made the decision two days after Salah told reporters he was disappointed about sitting on the bench during a 3-3 draw with Leeds United on Saturday in Leeds, England. He also said he felt like he was being “thrown under the bus.”

Salah, who also was benched for recent matches against West Ham United and Sunderland, hinted that he could leave the club in January.

“Someone wants me to get all the blame,” Salah told reporters. “[The] club promised me a lot in the summer. Now I’m on the bench, so I can say they haven’t kept those promises.

“I used to have a good relationship [with manager Arne Slot]. Now, we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why. It seems like someone does not want me in the club.”

Salah participated in training with the Reds on Monday in Liverpool, England.

The 33-year-old forward, who signed a two-year contract extension in April, scored just five times over 18 appearances this season. He totaled 34 scores over 52 appearances last season.

The Reds (7-6-2) sit in ninth place in the Premier League standings, 10 points behind first-place Arsenal (10-2-3). Manchester City, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace (7-3-5) and Chelsea (7-4-4) are among the other teams ahead of Liverpool in the standings.

The Reds will battle Inter Milan in a league phase Champions League match at 3 p.m. EST Tuesday in Milan. They departed for Milan on Monday with a 19-player squad that includes strikers Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Rio Ngumoha.

They will host seventh-place Brighton (6-4-5) in a Premier League match Saturday in Liverpool.
